Psychedelic Safety and Risk Education
Psychedelic safety UK and psychedelic risk education should be factual, neutral and clear about uncertainty. This page does not encourage use. It explains why controlled substances, unknown mushrooms and misinformation can create physical, psychological and legal risks.
Mushroom misidentification
Different species can look alike, and an image-based guess can be dangerously wrong. Identification risk is separate from a substance’s psychoactive effects. Never consume a wild specimen based on an app, social-media post or online description.
Psychological and physical risk
Responses can be unpredictable and may be influenced by health history, medicines, environment and unknown product composition. Research screening and clinical monitoring exist for important reasons. Scientific interest does not make unsupervised exposure safe.
Legal risk
Psilocybin and psilocin are controlled in the UK. Online availability, overseas law or claims about “natural” products do not override UK legislation.

If exposure or poisoning is suspected
Seek urgent professional medical advice and provide accurate information about what may have been taken and when. Keep any remaining specimen or packaging safely for professional identification, but do not delay getting help while searching online.
